Wicked Questions in Student Well-Being: A Design Workshop to Unleash New Solutions in Student Success

Each year, Vector Solutions brings together changemakers, thought leaders, and student affairs professionals to discuss the most pressing issues facing colleges, universities, and national organizations.

This year, we’ve reimagined our annual CPN Summit to better fit your needs. We’re hitting the road and coming to you. We’re excited to announce CPN Connect, three in-person regional workshops for you to choose from in 2023.

Please save the date for our first CPN Connect event at the Westin Copley Place in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 30th! We know many of you are planning to be in Boston for the ACHA Annual Meeting on May 31st, so we hope you’ll join us as we share groundbreaking data and engage in collaborative discussion on ways we can transform the student experience.

About CPN Connect Regional Workshops

CPN Summit

College and university professionals focused on student health, safety, well-being, and inclusion are increasingly facing novel situations and difficult, often paradoxical challenges that defy accepted wisdom and established solution playbooks. To solve these urgent and complex problems, we need to think and act differently. In short, we need design thinking.

In this high-energy, hands-on workshop participants will:

  • Understand the principles of Design Thinking: fully understanding complex problems, identifying a range of possible solutions from involved stakeholders, and identifying the solution or solutions most likely to succeed.
  • Learn the Design Thinking strategy of Liberating Structures, exploring how to apply this strategy to discover solutions for challenges unique to your institution.
  • Practice applying the Wicked Questions approach with colleagues using unique data insights about student health, safety, well-being, and inclusion available only through Vector Solutions.

Wicked Questions This Workshop Will Explore:

  • How do we identify a healthy majority in a pandemic-impacted community?
  • In a virtual learning environment, does a social norms approach still work?
  • Why are students still engaging in harmful behaviors when they value well-being, safety, and inclusion?
  • If prevention directly drives institutional performance, what can we do to increase investment?

This is THE professional development opportunity that I look forward to every year. I leave with many practical ideas to strengthen and improve our prevention programs.

VP of Student Life

Outstanding presentations which have come to embody why this is the most relevant conference I attend.

Director of Wellness

"This was quite possibly the best conference I have attended…The quality of the presentations surpassed my expectations and were rigorous and critical in their analyses. Many conferences I have attended are just "look at us and what we did." These presenters shared their research and how we could apply it at our colleges. I am so incredibly pleased with this conference and it is at the top of my list for conferences to attend in the future."

Prevention Practitioner

The Summit was hands-down outstanding! Your staff did an incredible job. The presentations were informative, professional, and timely; the food was wonderful; the facilities could not have been better; and the assistance extended by the entire staff, with their ever-present smile, was most appreciated and helpful. You will be challenged and hard-pressed to top this conference.
