Accreditations Update: TX Law Enforcement Updated CE Requirements and Certified Credential

Please see the accreditations update below for updated continuing education requirements and certified credential for Texas law enforcement officers.

TX Law Enforcement Updated CE Requirements and Certified Credential

TX – Peace Officer, Advanced (eff. 9/1/21)
TX - Peace Officer, Basic (eff. 9/1/21)
TX - Peace Officer, Intermediate (eff. 9/1/21)
TX - Peace Officer, Master (eff. 9/1/21)

All Peace Officers are required to take training in a 2-year Training Unit and 4-year Training Cycle.

2-year Training Unit (9/1/21 – 8/31/23) – 40 hours of Continuing Education due

Of the 40 hours required, (all can be taken online):

    • 37 hours in General Law Enforcement topics
    • 3 hours must be in the Current Legislative Update topic (Vector Solutions does not have a course to meet this requirement)

4-year Training Cycle of (9/1/21 – 8/31/25)

Mandated Courses required for 9/1/21 – 8/31/25

Note: The mandated training topics may also count towards your 2-year Training Unit requirement. (i.e. 4-year Training Cycle = 3 hours Legislative Update, 17 hours General and 20 hours of the Mandated Topics listed below for first and second 2-year Training Unit)

Vector Solutions does not have courses that meet the Mandated Topic requirements.

    • 4 hours in Human Trafficking
    • 4 hours in Canine Encounters
    • 4 hours in Interacting with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Drivers
    • 40-hr Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) (Must be in a live setting)
    • 2 hours in Civilian Interaction Training Program

Peace Officers, Basic must also take CE in these additional mandated topics.

    • 8 hours in Cultural Diversity
    • 8 hours in Crisis Intervention
    • 8 hours in Special Investigative Topics
    • 8 hours in De-escalation
