Without a doubt, 2020 has been a year of significant challenges and changes. During this year, Vector Solutions continued to support agencies and help them adapt to new processes through technological innovations.
In 2020, Vector Solutions developed new products, released crucial training, enhanced existing systems and gave back to local communities. Here’s a look back at this year’s most notable solutions and events.
To help agencies streamline skill assessments and ensure accountability, Vector Solutions created Vector Evaluations+. This mobile application equips fire and law enforcement agencies with an in-field tool to record and review skill demonstrations, note areas of improvement and complete skill sheets from the field. In addition to convenience, the integrated solution makes it easy to refer back to an individual’s performance to document compliance or determine readiness for career growth. (See “Compliance Solutions for Law Enforcement” below for more information.)
For enhanced incident management, Vector EHS Management was released at the start of 2020. Accessible via the mobile app or web browser, employees can report an incident or possible exposure closer to when it occurred. Then, agencies can use one system to perform a detailed investigation, complete OSHA forms and assign corrective actions.
Effective training and documentation are essential for law enforcement agencies. In 2020, Vector Solutions announced new applications to empower police departments. These resources were designed to enhance training compliance, simplify policy distribution and help protect organizations.
The all-new FTO solution allows agencies to track all in-person training and manage daily observation reports for officers. With this mobile application, departments can oversee training progress and make sure important performance goals are met and recorded.
New courses were also added to Vector Solutions’ online training library – delivering more than 250 hours of law enforcement training. Video-based courses include: Officer Survival – Physiological Response to Stress; Understanding Fatigue; and Policies and Procedures.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Vector Solutions acted quickly to produce and release complimentary training content.
Popular EMS training courses were made available to law enforcement professionals and retired EMS providers who returned to the field. Topics for public safety employees included: Respiratory Protection; Response for COVID-19 (PPE, Decon, and Transport); and Protecting Yourself from Influenza.
Additionally, a COVID-19 training series was developed and made available at no cost. As part of the Vector Cares program, agencies could access these high-quality training videos to help promote awareness and better protect their organizations and communities.
Vector Solutions not only builds new technologies for public safety agencies, but also continually updates existing products. In 2020, significant enhancements were made to TargetSolutions Check It™, TargetSolutions Scheduling™ and the TargetSolutions LMS.
Hydrant inspections were added to TargetSolutions Check It. Now, agencies can manage these fixed assets via Equipment inspections and track their locations using a built-in, interactive map.
Updates to the TargetSolutions Scheduling application feature an all-new Timeline View and automation rules for callbacks. With a linear view option, agencies can manage employees’ schedules based on a daily, weekly or by-shift basis. Additionally, the new Callback Rules Builder provides a more intelligent, tiered method for filling open shifts.
Finally, Vector Solutions’ training system also received new functionalities. A revamped calendar includes a new drop-down feature to show upcoming events and deadlines. The “on shift today” filter pulls data from TargetSolutions Scheduling to record completions and create training assignments for on-duty employees.
Mass management tools simplify how agencies edit supervisory rights and access within the platform. Lastly, credentials were made available within Enterprise sites for a more streamlined and organized group training experience.
Every year, Vector Solutions and the International Association of Fire Chief’s (IAFC) Volunteer & Combination Officers Section (VCOS) recognize an exemplary training officer with the VCOS Training Officer Recognition Award.
In 2020, Karl Neubecker of the Ellington Fire Department (CT) was recognized with this honor. He was nominated by his peers for coordinating training for local agencies on Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) and his innovative training solutions during the pandemic.
To help raise awareness for first responders, Vector Solutions provided complimentary access to two online courses: NFPA 1851 – Cancer-Related Risks of Firefighting, and Mental Health Awareness for Emergency Responders. Additionally, Vector Solutions donated $1 to the American Cancer Society and the First Responder Center for Excellence for completions of the respective courses during 2020.
