The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is a prosecuting agency based in Bergen County, New Jersey, a densely populated urban-outlying suburb adjacent to New York City. This office acts as a prosecuting agency, police department, and investigative agency to a county of approximately one million people.
Bergen County is in the heart of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the U.S. The Prosecutor’s Office has seen an influx of concerns about COVID-19 response, despite not being leading experts in COVID-19. The office needed to shift its focus away from answering COVID-19 questions while also providing the county with up-to-date information about the virus. “We wanted to connect people immediately to information,” said Senior Assistant Prosecutor Martin Delaney.
Bergen County added two new cards to its LiveSafe Mobile Platform homescreen: “CDC Self- Assessment Tool” and “COVID-19 Resources.” These cards are connected to the most up-to- date and accurate coronavirus information. “It links you directly to the agencies that are in the best position to answer your questions,” Delaney said.
LiveSafe enabled the Prosecutor’s Office to connect its community members to easily accessible and reliable COVID-19 resources, thereby allowing the office to spend more time addressing crime instead of answering questions about COVID-19.
