In past roles, Jeff was a key member of the launch team for PCS PrimeCo, which became an integral part of today’s Verizon Wireless. He also contributed to the growth of Convergys, then continued that success as the CEO of Syniverse, overseeing and driving significant company growth, including the largest acquisition in Syniverse’s history.
J. David PhillipsChairman of the Board
J. David Phillips is the Vector Solutions Chairman of the Board and a managing director at Providence Equity Partners. Mr. Phillips is also currently a director of Blackboard and Vistage. Previous board memberships include Archipelago Learning, Ascend Learning, CSDVRS, and PADI. Prior to joining Providence in 2005, Mr. Phillips was a Luce Scholar and assistant director of business development at Hutchison Whampoa China. Previously, Mr. Phillips worked at Goldman Sachs in the principal investment area. Mr. Phillips received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University.
Steven W. AlesioOperating Partner
Steve Alesio is an operating partner of the Vector Solutions equity investor, Providence Equity Partners. Prior to joining Providence in 2010, Mr. Alesio was most recently chairman of the board and CEO of Dun & Bradstreet Corporation, a provider of credit information on businesses and corporations. He held these positions from 2005 until his retirement from the company in 2010. From 2001 to 2005, he served in various senior leadership positions, including senior vice president, president, and chief operating officer, and was elected to the board of directors. Prior to joining Dun & Bradstreet in 2001, Mr. Alesio spent 19 years with the American Express Company, where he served in marketing and general management roles.
Mr. Alesio serves on the boards of directors of Altegrity, Ascend Learning, Blackboard, CDW, and Miller Heiman. He is also the founding sponsor and senior advisor of the All Stars Project of New Jersey, a nonprofit organization focused on inner-city youth. Mr. Alesio received a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science from St. Francis College.
Peter O. WildeManaging Director
Managing Director Peter Wilde leads the firm’s private equity investment activities in the education and information sectors. Mr. Wilde is currently a Director of Asurion, Blackboard, Galileo Global Education, KPA, NACE Schools, Study Group, Vector Solutions and Vistage. Prior to joining Providence in 2002, Mr. Wilde was a general partner at BCI Partners, where he began his career in private equity in 1992. While at BCI, he was involved in many of BCI’s investment activities in media, education, and marketing services companies. Prior to BCI, Mr. Wilde worked at LaSalle Partners in the acquisitions group.
Mr. Wilde received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Colorado College.
William S. HughesManaging Director
Will Hughes is a Managing Director at Providence Equity Partners. He is currently a director of KPA, Vector Solutions, and Vistage. Prior to joining Providence in 2009, Mr. Hughes was an associate at Summit Partners where he focused on growth equity and middle market investments. Previously, Mr. Hughes was special assistant to the CEO at Netdecisions Group and an analyst in the technology investment banking group at Lehman Brothers.
Mr. Hughes received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College.
James F. ZumbergeVice President
James Zumberge is a vice president with Providence Equity Partners. Mr. Zumberge originally joined Providence in 2009 as an associate before attending business school. He is currently a director of Blackboard and Vector Solutions. Previously, Mr. Zumberge was an analyst in Merrill Lynch’s media and telecommunications investment banking group. Mr. Zumberge received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, where he graduated as a Baker Scholar and a Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University.
