Asbestos Awareness – 2 Hour Training
This comprehensive 2-hour Asbestos Awareness training course provides information about asbestos hazards and regulatory requirements for workers who may encounter asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in their workplace. Participants will learn to identify what asbestos is and its properties, recognize common asbestos-containing materials, and understand the serious health effects of asbestos exposure, including the additional risks for smokers. The course covers EPA regulations and OSHA standards, defines friable and non-friable materials, and explains the four OSHA construction classifications of asbestos work. Additionally, learners will explore the responsibilities of building owners, employers, and employees regarding material sampling and testing, employee training, medical surveillance, recordkeeping, engineering controls, safe work practices, hazard communication, and hygiene facilities. The training concludes with preferred methods for cleaning up and disposing of asbestos-containing waste, debris, and dust according to regulatory requirements.
