The goal of this course is to give school bus drivers an overview of strategies to create a safer and more enjoyable bus atmosphere for the driver and the students they transport. These response and recovery actions can minimize costly damage and facility down-time. Topics covered include the unique environment of a school bus, building relationships with students, helpful strategies for problem behaviors, implementing disciplinary policies and misconduct reporting, and handling real emergencies.

Ted Finlayson-Schueler is the founder of Safety Rules! which is dedicated to safe travel for children to and from school and school activities. Ted also founded the Pupil Transportation Safety Institute (PTSI) in Syracuse, New York in 1990 and served as its Executive Director until 2004. During the 10 years from 1994 to 2004, Ted grew PTSI into a national organization serving the pupil transportation community.
