This course guides teachers in understanding the dynamics of bullying, teaching with a trauma-informed approach, and practicing cultural humility. Teacher commitment to and modeling of collaborative practices can greatly reduce the incidence of bullying in the classroom. Teachers will gain skills for building supportive classroom environments and avoiding deficit thinking, an understanding of their unique role as bystanders, and tools for using healing-centered engagement to embolden students’ sense of control.
