DOT Entry Level Driver Training – Vehicle Systems and Reporting Malfunctions: Maintenance
Commercial motor vehicles, or CMVs – heavy duty trucks, tractor-trailers, and large passenger buses – require daily checks, routine maintenance, and occasional repairs to keep them operating safely and efficiently. During required daily and annual inspections, you must examine specific parts and accessories. Truck manufacturers create maintenance schedules identifying when fluids, filters, and other parts need to be examined and/or replaced. In this course, we describe some basic procedures for maintaining and servicing a large diesel engine and key vehicle components. We also cover how to perform preventive maintenance and simple emergency repairs to help keep you on the road and get you to your destination on time.
