Electrical Equipment: AC and DC Motors for Schools

There are multiple types of electric motors. Some motors run on direct current (DC), and some motors run on alternating current (AC). Both are used extensively in industrial facilities. Both operate on the principle of magnetism and electromagnet induction, but that principle is applied differently in different types of motors. In this module, we will first look at the difference between direct and alternating current power. With that knowledge, we will examine the principle of operation of both types of motors. We will describe the purpose of the components that make up a motor, and we will discuss some of the different variants of DC motors and AC motors.
