By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the purpose of a laboratory safety program and the role of safety culture in daily laboratory operations
- Describe the basic roles and responsibilities of employers, supervisors, and employees under OSHA’s Laboratory Standard
- Recognize the purpose of Hazard Communication, GHS labeling, and Safety Data Sheets in laboratory work
- Explain the function of the Chemical Hygiene Plan and how it supports safe handling of hazardous chemicals
- Identify common laboratory hazards, including chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic risks
- Describe the hierarchy of controls and how it applies to laboratory environments
- Recognize the basic purpose of fume hoods, ventilation systems, biosafety cabinets, and common PPE used in laboratories
