Mechanical Maintenance: Basic Terms of Maintenance
This course introduces terms and concepts critical for effective industrial maintenance operations. Learners will explore key maintenance strategies, including preventive, condition-based, predictive, and corrective. It also covers precision maintenance as a cultural framework for excellence in maintenance practices.
Learners will examine key performance indicators such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), uptime, downtime, availability, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Other topics include maintenance safety protocols, lockout/tagout, routine maintenance activities, troubleshooting methods, and work management, including work requests, work orders, schedules, and recordkeeping.
The course concludes with a discussion of continuous improvement approaches, providing learners with comprehensive knowledge to excel in today’s maintenance environment.
