Each year, food contamination leads to millions of illnesses and thousands of deaths. Foodborne illness is also costly financially. It’s estimated that it costs about $110 billion per year worldwide. One of the main causes of foodborne disease is poor hand hygiene. Those working with or near food are responsible for keeping their hands clean. This microlearning course will discuss the types of contaminants you may encounter and the routes for hand contamination. We will also review the different types of hand-washing materials and discuss when to use each type.
