DW MacAdam, a safety-security consultant and Advanced CPTED Specialist for residential and commercial properties, is the owner and lead CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) consultant and crime prevention practitioner of MacAdam Protection Strategies in the San Francisco bay area. Additionally, Mr. MacAdam is a Board Member of Cal-DOCA (California Designing Out Crime Association) and an advanced peace officer for the State of California. Professionally, Mr. MacAdam was awarded his CPTED Professional Designation (CPD) from the NICP (National Institute of Crime Prevention). He has successfully identified architectural deficiencies, provided safety/security recommendations, planned alarm/video/access systems, and introduced safer practices to residential and commercial properties. Clients include: victims, potential victims, community residences, high-level executive residences, small businesses, and State of California buildings/properties. This success is due to his (security and peace officer) training, experience (peace officer, detective, evidence technician, dignitary agent, safety programs officer, crime prevention officer, and former FBI-certified bomb technician), and his educational accomplishments. Academically, Mr. MacAdam studied architecture with a focus on CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design) at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and graduated with honors with the following two degrees: MBA with a concentration in Security Consulting and BS in Management of Personal Protection. He also obtained numerous California POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) certifications, such as: Crime Prevention, Dignitary Security, Robert Presley School of Investigation, Background Investigation, and Evidence Technician. He is a former FBI-certified bomb technician. Mr. MacAdam has been a speaker at the ASIS Executive Protection Symposium for professionals/students and at UC Berkeley lecturing on CPTED for architecture students.
