Signs and Symptoms of an Eating Disorder (Grades 6-8)

Because our culture directly ties weight and appearance to self-worth, many people feel like they aren’t worthy or attractive unless their body looks a certain way. This can often lead to a desire to lose weight, which can be taken to an extreme. Many people actually start dieting in order to be healthy and lose some weight, but become obsessed over time, which may or may not lead to binge episodes, feelings of shame, and lack of control. In this module, we’ll examine signs and symptoms that a desire to be healthy has crossed a line and turned into an eating disorder.
