Hazmat training has always faced a difficult balancing act. Certification standards require breadth: firefighters need to understand chemistry, container behavior, PPE selection, and response tactics across an enormous range of hazard classes. Departments serving mixed jurisdictions, industrial corridors, rural areas, or rail lines now have targeted content instead of generic hazmat theory.

The lineup also includes two related courses on chemical and physical properties, giving training officers flexibility to assign either as a foundation or use both for reinforcement, since each approaches vapor density, vapor pressure, and boiling point from a different angle.

And the catalog is not static. The addition of a dedicated Lithium-Ion Battery Emergencies course reflects an industry reality training professionals are already living: U.S. lithium-ion battery fire incident rates increased 86% between 2020 and 2023, with particularly significant risks emerging around micromobility devices. Standard hazmat curricula have been slow to catch up. This course closes that gap now.
