We know from studying the history of workplace violence that prevention is possible right up to the last moment before somebody chooses to act violently. And while the best case scenario is when warning signs and indicators of potential violent behavior are observed and reported well in advance, the reality is that you may find yourself in the position of having to actively de-escalate a crisis that is on the brink of turning violent.
That’s where good training in de-escalation techniques and strategies come in.
