According to the centers for disease control and prevention, the construction industry has the highest rate of suicide — as well as the highest number of suicides — of all industries.
More construction workers die by suicide each day than by all other workplace-related fatalities combined. The suicide rate in construction is 53.2 for every 100,000 – that’s four times greater than the national average and five times greater than that of all other construction fatalities combined.
On this episode of The Prevention Podcast, we talk to Michelle Walker, the Chairman of the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention.
