Hypothermia Assessment and Treatment

Hypothermia can onset quickly from recreational exposure, trauma or can gradually worsen due to illness. This course reviews treatment guidelines for mild hypothermia and specific ALS and BLS considerations for severe hypothermia.

After successfully completing this course, personnel will have a better understand of the unpredictable and unfamiliar situations of patients who develop hypothermia. Lessons cover the effects of hypothermia on the body, including the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.

Additionally, personnel will learn the following:

  • The causes of mild, moderate and severe hypothermia
  • The types of patients most at risk
  • The signs and symptoms of hypothermia
  • Treatment based on current research and guidelines

Renal Failure Advanced

Over 37 million adults have physiological evidence of chronic kidney disease. Over a half million patients in the United States are undergoing treatment for end-stage kidney disease, a generally irreversible state requiring kidney replacement therapy or kidney transplantation to sustain life.

Using video animations of kidney anatomy, this course provides a general overview of kidney disease. Lessons include the causes of kidney disease, the signs and symptoms, possible complications, and recommended patient management strategies.

Both acute and chronic types of kidney disease, as well as kidney physiology and long-term care, are discussed. This advanced course is broken down accordingly:

  • Incidence of kidney disease
  • The renal system
  • Kidney disorders
  • Acute kidney injury
  • Chronic kidney disease and kidney failure
  • Dialysis
  • Kidney Transplant
