Presenter

Dr. Rumanda Young Ph.D., RLA, AICP, LEED AP ND

Dr. Rumanda Young currently serves as Associate Technical Director, ERDC Laboratories – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Dr. Young also has eight years of private practice experience, six of which working with the firm Carter & Burgess, Inc. ​

Dr. Young is a Registered Landscape Architect (RLA) in the state of Texas, a Certified Planner (AICP), and a LEED Accredited Professional. She holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture (BLA) from the University of Arkansas, a master’s degree in city and regional planning (MCRP) with environmental planning emphasis from the University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham England and the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Ph.D. in urban planning and public policy.​

Dr. Young served as a professor at Southern Methodist University, Lyle School of Engineering and the Director of Operations for the SMU-in-Taos campus from 2007-2023. Dr Young is currently the Faculty Lead at the University of Virginia/USACE Department of Defense Master Planning Institute.
