Community college students often struggle with more complex difficulties (e.g., first-generation student status, mental health concerns) than traditional four-year students; however, student well-being is not often discussed when evaluating attrition within a community college environment.

This webinar will provide strategies to help community college leaders support student success amidst the constant change and difficulties students continue to face.

We will discuss a study that explores well-being and retention among community college students. We will review well-being models to understand the multidimensional difficulties that can impact students’ well-being and how these can influence a community college’s retention, persistence, and attrition. Additionally, we will explore how to support students’ well-being using a multi-disciplinary approach and share recommendations to help educators initiate a holistic concept of well-being within their campus environment.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this webinar:

  • Explain what community college student well-being is and what it can look like.
  • Describe how well-being factors may influence the trajectory of a student’s educational journey.
  • Identify proactive holistic strategies that will help students achieve their educational goals.
