EMS Accreditations Update: New NC and WI Requirements and NREMT COVID-19 Update

NC EMS New Requirements Effective 5/1/2020

NC EMS has changed its requirements to follow the NREMT NCCP 20216 model. The NCCP 2016 is broken down into three components National, Local (LCCR), and Individual (ICCR). The National component the topics and hours are determined by the NREMT. The Local Component topics are chosen by local authorities (or State EMS Office, if applicable).

Here is the listing of the new certified credentials:

  • NC State - EMR (eff. 5/1/2020)
  • NC State - EMT (eff. 5/1/2020)
  • NC State - AEMT (eff. 5/1/2020)
  • NC State - Paramedic (eff. 5/1/2020)

Reminder:
Vector Solutions will continue to report course completions to CAPCE for NREMT. Please remember to use NREMT #.

For NC State licenses, providers need to maintain record of completions (including date, time, hours completed, instructor, student’s name, class topic) for two licensure cycles.

WI EMS New Requirements Effective 7/1/2020

WI EMS has changed its renewal period. All licenses are now expiring 6/30/23 after changing from a biennial to a triennial renewal cycle. They have adopted similar requirements to the NCCP 2016 requirements, adding Weapons of Mass Destruction/Preparedness continuing education and refer to it as the NCCP refresher.

  • WI State - EMR (NCCP Refresher) (due 6/30/23)
  • WI State - EMT (NCCP Refresher) (due 6/30/23)
  • WI State - AEMT (NCCP Refresher) (due 6/30/23)
  • WI State - Paramedic (NCCP Refresher) (due 6/30/23)

For WI State licenses, you need to complete and submit the Provider Renewal application to the E-Learning system by June 30, 2023.

NREMT Continuing Education Update

Due to COVID-19, the online course (asynchronous delivery) limits will be removed for the recertification cycles ending:

  • September 30, 2021 (EMR)
  • March 31, 2022 (EMT, AEMT, Paramedic)
  • September 30, 2022 (EMR)

Vector Solutions EMS courses are approved through CAPCE and are accepted to renew NREMT certifications.
