Overdose Awareness Day: Empowering K-12 Students to Make Informed Choices

Every year, Overdose Awareness Day is acknowledged on August 31st to serve as a reminder of the devastating impact that drug overdoses have on individuals, families, and communities. This day is not only an opportunity to remember those lost to addiction but also to raise awareness and educate people about the importance of preventing substance misuse.

With the rise of drug misuse in K-12 schools, it’s important to implement a student prevention program that raises awareness and communicates risks. By introducing age-appropriate lessons on drugs, their effects, and potential consequences, educators can equip students with essential knowledge to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

Overdose Awareness Day serves as a catalyst for initiating discussions in classrooms, encouraging students to understand the risks associated with drug misuse and the importance of seeking help when faced with addiction.
