About the DOT Compliance Requirements

In 2022, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced new ELDT compliance requirements for new drivers seeking to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for the first time and existing truck drivers seeking to upgrade an existing Class B CDL to a Class A CDL. The requirement ensures entry-level drivers receive theory-based training to meet the requirements before getting or upgrading their CDL. 

The January/February issue of Heavy Duty Trucking reports that over the last year, companies that manage fleets and drivers have felt the challenge to comply and locate an authorized vendor to fill this need. Companies with CDL needs must quickly invest in training to remain compliant and keep their drivers working safely and efficiently.

FMCSA’s Entry-Level Driver Training regulations set the minimum federal requirements that training entry-level drivers must complete before testing for certain commercial driver’s licenses and CDL endorsements.

Getting Drivers Compliant & On the Road Safely 

Vector Solutions can help drivers become compliant and drive safely on the road. We offer 30 theory-based training courses that meet the FMCSA requirements for drivers getting their Class A or B CDL for the first time or upgrading their Class B to Class A CDL. As an authorized provider listed on the FMCSA's Training Provider Registry, we ensure that our courses meet the necessary standards. Each course comes with an exam that must be passed with at least 80% accuracy, and upon completion, the results are automatically submitted to the FMCSA. 

ELDT Driving

Drivers completing theory-based online courses are also required to undergo behind-the-wheel (BTW) training to certify their compliance with federal, state, and local laws related to commercial vehicle operation. To ensure that all prerequisites are checked off before testing for and obtaining their CDL, drivers can check their record here.
