RedVector course author W. Jon Wallace is a Certified Safety Professional with nearly three decades of occupational safety experience and national recognition in the area of occupational safety. His industrial experience includes work with Mobil Oil and Hercules, where he not only gained technical knowledge around occupational safety and loss control, but learned how to effectively implement practical, pragmatic safety solutions to everyday safety concerns.

Upon obtaining his Master of Business Administration (MBA), Jon relocated to North Carolina and became a safety consultant. Jon founded Workplace Safety in 2002. He has assisted clients in the chemical, nuclear, furniture, semiconductor, automotive, steel, and pharmaceutical industries with occupational safety challenges. His recent focus has been NFPA 70E® —Electrical Safe Work practices, OSHA compliance training, lockout/tagout risk assessments, robotics safety and combustible dust program reviews.

In addition to safety consulting, Jon is an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is on the faculty of the University of North Carolina Education and Research Center (ERC). Jon teaches 10 and 30-hour OSHA compliance courses and conducts other safety-related training. He is an OSHA-authorized Outreach Trainer.

Jon is frequently interviewed on TV regarding workplace fatalities and is a regular guest on ESPN’s “Outside the Lines.”
