Hazard Communication GHS for Schools
Workers across various industries, from custodial to healthcare and chemical manufacturing, encounter hazardous chemicals daily. Exposure to these chemicals can cause severe health issues, including organ damage, cancer, burns, and explosions. To mitigate these risks, OSHA introduced the Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom) in 1983, also known as the “Right to Know” law. Revised to align with the UN’s Globally Harmonized System (GHS), HazCom ensures a standardized approach to classifying and communicating chemical hazards, making it easier for workers to access and understand crucial safety information. In this course we will identify the risks of hazardous chemical exposure, describe OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard and its written program requirements, recognize workplace chemical labeling and SDSs, and review employer HazCom training requirements.
