What is self-talk?“Self-talk” refers to the way we communicate with ourselves. It can sometimes be beneficial, such as calming our nerves before a big game or test. However, it can turn negative when it impacts our self-esteem or confidence.
What are common physical signs of stress?Physical signs of excessive stress can include changes in appetite, such as overeating unhealthy foods or losing one’s appetite. Other symptoms might include difficulty falling asleep or sleeping too much, feeling anxious, lacking energy, or experiencing sadness or depression.
What are common symptoms of depression?Some common signs of depression are losing interest in activities you once enjoyed, like spending time with friends or playing sports, having trouble focusing in class or finishing assignments, and feeling overwhelmed by hopelessness or discouragement.

This course aims to provide you with information and skills that will contribute to your success in college and life. Well-being encompasses all aspects of your life, such as your emotions, finances, social life, spiritual journey, career, physical health, intellectual pursuits, and surroundings. You may be doing very well in one aspect of your well-being but still face challenges in another. What is mental well-being? Mental well-being is knowing and doing what makes you happy, living a life that aligns with your values, and engaging in meaningful relationships with others. It also means understanding yourself and your baselines and seeking out help if you do experience mental health challenges.
