New Jersey (NJ) New EMS Course Approvals

NJ - Emergency Medical Technician - EMT

New Jersey Department of Health, 6 courses for 7 hours were approved.

1 Abdominal Trauma (6460) 1
2 Bleeding and Shock (6470) 1
3 Patient Care Report Essentials (6858) 1
4 Patient Lifting, Moving and Transportation (6457) 1
5 Pharmacology (6472) 2
6 Thoracic Emergencies (6471) 1

Louisiana EMS Updated CE Requirements and Certified Credential

LA State - EMR (eff. 10/1/19)

16 hours of continuing education (CE) by September 30th, biennially two years from previous renewal.

16 CE hours are broken down into two components:

National Component - 8 hours (all hours may be taken online)

  •  1 hour must be in Airway/Respiration/Ventilation 
  •  2.5 hours must be in Cardiovascular 
  •  0.5 hours must be in Trauma 
  •  3 hours must be in Medical
  •  1 hour must be in Operations

State/Local/Individual Component - 8 hours (all hours may be taken online)

  • EMS Laws & Ethics
  • Patient Advocacy
  • Protocols
  • Disaster Planning
  • Balance of hours in EMS-related education

 

LA State - EMT (eff. 10/1/19)

40 hours of continuing education (CE) by March 31st, biennially two years from previous renewal.

40 CE hours are broken down into two components:

National Component - 20 hours (all hours may be taken online)

  •  1.5 hours must be in Airway/Respiration/Ventilation 
  •  6 hours must be in Cardiovascular 
  •  1.5 hours must be in Trauma 
  •  6 hours must be in Medical
  •  5 hours must be in Operations 

State/Local/Individual Component - 20 hours (all hours may be taken online)

  • EMS Laws & Ethics
  • Patient Advocacy
  • Protocols
  • Disaster Planning
  • Balance of hours in EMS-related education

 

LA State - AEMT (eff. 10/1/19)

50 hours of continuing education (CE) by March 31st, biennially two years from previous renewal.

50 CE hours are broken down into two components:

National Component - 25 hours (all hours may be taken online)

  •  2.5 hours must be in Airway/Respiration/Ventilation 
  •  7 hours must be in Cardiovascular 
  •  7.5 hours must be in Medical
  •  5 hours must be in Operations 
  •  3 hours must be in Trauma 

State/Local/Individual Component - 25 hours (all hours may be taken online)

  • Patient Advocacy

  • Balance of hours in EMS-related education

 

LA State - Paramedic (eff. 10/1/19)

60 hours of continuing education (CE) by March 31st, biennially two years from previous renewal.

60 CE hours are broken down into two components:

National Component - 30 hours (all hours may be taken online)

  • 3.5 hours must be in Airway/Respiration/Ventilation 
  • 8.5 hours must be in Cardiovascular 
  • 3 hours must be in Trauma 
  • 8.5 hours must be in Medical
  • 6.5 hours must be in Operations

State/Local/Individual Component - 30 hours (all hours may be taken online)

  • EMS Laws & Ethics
  • Patient Advocacy
  • Protocols
  • Disaster Planning
  • Balance of hours in EMS-related education

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) accepts pre-approved CE by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE). The courses offered by Vector Solutions for this profession have been reviewed and approved by CAPCE.
