I’m Daniel Mitchell. I work for Woodgrain Inc. We are a multi-sectional, wood manufacturing company. I work as the environmental and safety project manager for the lumber and millwork division. Some of the challenges that we were facing, before the implementation of Vector, especially on the EHS side, is incident reporting and incident alerting.

So if there’s any type of incident in any of our facilities, heaven forbid that it be bad enough to where it is triggered where we need to relay that to OSHA. We only have a certain amount of time to do that, and our corporate office, puts some pretty pretty heavy, requirements on us on when we need to get those incidents, alerted to the proper people. Before, we were just kind of, we would take the report, we do the investigations, we’d get all the information that we need, we would add it to an email, and then send that out to, a dedicated email list of people.

Well, that list is always changing. You know, roles are very dynamic that you don’t stay in roles. There’s turnover. There’s all sorts of things that happen, and, it was a constant struggle of maybe even sharing too much information. With the implementation of the EHS, we have been able to create dedicated email lists and dedicated notification lists, and control the content of what is in those notifications to where we can actually allow more than just a few people at facilities put in these incidents. So it’s created more resources for us actually, which was a very huge, limitation to us before. Because before we would only have, you know, maybe a handful of people that could enter in just an incident alert and not have to go through the incident investigation process.

Well, with the EHS, we are now able to have multiple people at sites enter in just the basic initial incident, and so we get it done quicker, we get it done more efficiently, and with the information that is, truly pertaining to what corporate actually would like to see. Now, with being able to easily track the hours, easily track agency temps and everything directly in Vector, has really been able to generate some very solid reports and, get more accurate numbers. A lot of facilities, a lot of divisions, we’re still just using just raw spreadsheets to keep track of information. And after looking at what Vector had to offer, everybody decided, you know what, this is the most versatile.

It has components of everything that we need from trainings to incident management, to hazard management, to environmental inspection management, to recording capabilities, to claims capabilities. So it had a little bit for every department. So it just made sense that we would go with that. I mean, I would recommend Vector Solutions for just about any company.
