First Aid – Eye Injuries
A person’s eye can be injured easily while on the job. As a result, safety glasses or similar eye and face protection is important when appropriate. In addition, however, workers should know how to provide first aid for eye injuries suffered at work. This course covers first aid for eye injuries from chemicals, cuts and scratches, and for objects embedded in the eye, and provides general procedures for using safety showers and safety eyewashes.

We use our eyes to see the world around us. Our sense of sight provides much of the information that we receive about our surroundings. Unfortunately, our eyes are fragile and can be damaged easily. This can be painful and can even lead to permanent loss of sight. In this course, you’ll learn first-aid methods for eye injuries. You can use these methods on yourself or others who suffer eye injuries. It’s worth stressing the importance of wearing eye protection in situations when your eyes could get damaged. If everyone at your workplace wears proper eye protection to protect their eyes when it’s necessary, there should be no eye injuries and no need to provide first-aid to the eye.
