Wood Chipping

0.32 Hrs
SKU: JCOM-40139

A wood chipper is used to break down logs and large pieces of wood into chips suitable for pulping. The term “suitable” means that the majority of the wood chips are in the proper size range for pulping.

Wood chips are the most significant raw material cost at a pulp mill, and optimizing the operation of the chipper means fewer losses due to oversized and undersized chips, more stable operations in downstream processes, and less off-quality product.

This course discusses how wood chippers work, the importance of chip quality, how to replace chipper knives, relevant safety hazards, and the necessary PPE to work around chippers and chipper knives.
