Last year was a tough year for school safety and security. It was the worst year to date in terms of the number of school shootings that occurred. Statistics collected by Education Week show that in 2018 a school shooting occurred on average once every eight school days.
As if that wasn't enought, there were no shortage of reports dealing with sexual assaults on college campuses and, if you followed this show last year, you know that many colleges and universities are dealing with a surprisingly high volume of mental health crises on campus.
So what does 2019 have in store for school safety and security? And what are some of the best practices that education leaders at all levels could employ to improve safety and security and lessen their risk and liability exposure?
