Advancing Readiness Through Innovation: Matt Barnes Honored at FDIC 2026

Last week at FDIC 2026, Deputy Chief Matt Barnes of the Southern Marin Fire Protection District was recognized by Vector Solutions with the prestigious Operational Readiness Award. Presented on April 23 at The Rathskeller in Indianapolis, the award celebrates Barnes’ exceptional commitment to strengthening departmental preparedness, advancing operational efficiency, and championing innovation across his organization.

Serving a diverse region spanning more than 25 square miles just north of San Francisco, Southern Marin Fire responds to approximately 10,000 calls annually. With more than 100 personnel and a wide range of incident types, from structure fires to water rescues and EMS, maintaining operational readiness is both complex and mission-critical.
