Understanding Opioid Misuse: Preventing and Responding to Overdose (Grades 6-8)

This course explores the nature and consequences of opioid use and misuse. Beginning with a general introduction to legal and illegal opioids, this experience discusses the effects of opioids on the body, the physiological impact of opioid misuse, and the risks associated with overdose and substance use disorder/addiction. Our primary objective is to equip students with the knowledge to recognize early signs of opioid misuse and how to intervene effectively. By fostering awareness we aim to empower students to take a proactive role in addressing opioid-related issues within their communities. ​
