Understanding Trauma

Trauma is the emotional response to a deeply disturbing event, but did you know that what makes an event traumatic depends more on the person than the event itself? Trauma can have a major impact on how we think of ourselves, others, and the world around us. This course explores the types of trauma and the ways it can seriously affect our physical and emotional health. You’ll learn to identify the signs and symptoms – and their long-term effects – so you can recognize them in yourself and others. You’ll also discover healthy ways to manage intense emotions and symptoms of trauma and when it’s time to ask for help.
