Webinar Session Recap: Body Cam Footage as a Training Asset
Industry:
Solution:
Many agencies capture body-worn camera footage, but it often begins and ends as evidence. While departments sit on mountains of real-world, dynamic video, most lack systems and processes to create meaningful, scenario-based training that can improve performance, decision-making, and officer confidence. Our recent webinar, Body Cam Footage as a Training Asset — Not Just Evidence, highlights strategies for using real video to enhance learning and reduce risk.
The Session Recap
Hey everyone, Doug Kazensky here, Solutions Engineer at Vector Solutions and retired training sergeant. Just got off a great webinar with my friend and my co-Solutions Engineer, and fellow police officer, Michael Raymond.
We were talking about body-worn camera videos and body-worn camera training — using the videos for training. This is something that I’ve done for years where I would find videos on the internet and play them in briefing for, like, a micro-training type of situation. But now we have our own cameras. And how do we use our own material, our own videos, from our own cameras, at our own agency?
How can we use that video for training and be able to [do that] for everyone else to learn from that? That’s what we’re talking about today. Lots of considerations around this. You know, we have collective bargaining agreements, we have to make sure that our officers are protected, and we gotta make sure that we’re doing it right.
It just was a great webinar. We touched on all of these things. Go ahead and click that link. If you’re looking at this and going, “yeah, that sounds really interesting. That sounds like something I wanna learn how to do,” That’s what we’re going to talk about.
Go ahead and click that link, and watch the webinar on-demand. And looking forward to you joining us for the next webinar. Thank you, everyone.
Be safe out there.
