Release date: 8/19/2015In an effort to help make workplaces safer, RedVector expands its safety training offering to include nearly 40 foreign language courses
RedVector, the leader in eLearning and workforce training solutions for the architecture, engineering, construction, industrial and facility management industries, has expanded its safety training offering to include nearly 40 foreign language courses.
RedVector has translated popular safety training courses on fall protection, bloodborne pathogens, lockout/tagout and more to Spanish, French, Portuguese and English-Canadian. The complete list of translated courses can be found below.
While OSHA cannot mandate that safety training be given in any specific language other than English, its “Native Language Initiative” directs compliance officers to ensure that employees are receiving safety training in a manner they can understand. The compliance officer may issue citations and penalties for failure to properly train the employees.
“We know that training workers in their native language makes workplaces safer,” said RedVector Product Director Bobby Person. “Now, we’re able to give more employees the proper education to help them learn about hazards and how to avoid them.”
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that approximately 65 Hispanic or Latino workers per month were killed in on-site workplace incidents in 2013. That rate is higher than the national average among all U.S. workers. And there seems to be a reasonable likelihood that a lack of education and proper training played a role in the fatalities.
