
Gary McHone
Gary McHone is the Chief of Police for the Salado ISD Police Department in Texas. He started his career in Law Enforcement as part of the United States Air Force and is a Desert Storm Veteran. His education includes a Masters of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in Homeland Security from American Military University. With over 30 years of law enforcement experience, he has a distinguished career marked by community engagement and operational excellence. Before joining Salado ISD, Gary served as Assistant Chief of Police for the town of Prosper during a time of rapid growth, and then Chief of Police and Emergency Management Coordinator for the Muleshoe Police Department, where he led the department to significant milestones, including recognition as one of the safest small cities in Texas. Gary is active in professional organizations, contributing to the Texas Police Chiefs Association and the International Police Chiefs Association. His leadership is characterized by a commitment to public safety, community involvement, and professional development, making him a respected figure in law enforcement.
