Paper Machine Vibration Monitoring

As paper and board machine speeds are continuously increased, vibration becomes more and more important. Vibration analysis is used to prevent unscheduled downtime and reduce production costs by detecting problems long before complete failure occurs. Vibration can be measured periodically or continuously with sensors. Spectrum analysis provides a method to isolate the impact of specific defects, which is important on paper and board machines, where there are a lot of interconnected parts. This course will discuss common causes of vibration and vibration monitoring methods for paper machines.
