Goodbye 2021: A (Development) Year in Review

As 2021 comes to a close, it’s a great time to look back and reflect on the progress we’ve made in the last year, and what a huge year it has been! Vector LMS for Casinos has had more new feature development in 2021 than any other year since its release in 2017, with the goal to create a total training solution for our customers. We want Vector LMS for Casinos to be your one-stop-shop for all of your employees’ training needs - not only because of our best-in-market Title 31 course content, but also our robust and fully-customizable Learning Management System, too.

In case you missed it, here’s what we’ve been up to:

January: User Management Dashboard Ux Improvements

We enhanced the user experience in the User Management dashboard by adding the ability for site administrators to sort employees by job title and department. Additionally, departments and job titles are alphabetized in employee profile field dropdown lists.

February: Bulk Course Updates for Self-Service Surveys/Quizzes

Did you know that Vector LMS supports customized surveys and quizzes? This feature was added in 2019 to allow customers to build their own graded quizzes or surveys and assign them to employees, but in 2021 we took it to the next level by allowing site administrators to update scores and completion status for these custom quizzes through a bulk process.

March: Assessment Management Dashboard

When casinos reopened in late 2020, we saw casinos mass-hiring and relaunching their annual required training, which meant managing failed course assessments on an unprecedented scale. We created the Assessment Management Dashboard so that training managers can view failed assessments for all employees on one page, and reset them from the same place! This previously had to be done employee-by-employee, but the new dashboard simplifies this process. It also gives training managers great insight into which courses employees may be struggling with and lends itself to pre-shift meetings or a department-specific training focus.

April: Improved Mobile Experience

If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that we have to be flexible and open to ‘work-from-anywhere’ solutions. We optimized the Vector LMS for Casinos’ mobile experience by upgrading our course player so that when launching our courses on any mobile device, employees no longer need to zoom or scroll to navigate the content.

May-June: Self-Service Video Conversion

Vector LMS for Casinos’ already boasted powerful self-service tools to upload your own custom or proprietary training content, like our PowerPoint Conversion tool that allows training managers to upload PowerPoints and turn them into online training courses, complete with narration, or the Form Acknowledgment feature to upload any forms, policy and procedure updates, or memos in PDF or Word to the LMS for employees to view and electronically acknowledge.

In 2021, we added another tool to your arsenal with the ability to upload your own video content through our Self-Service Video Conversion feature. This has been helpful for our customers who quickly began using the feature to share messages from leadership, COVID-19 return-to-work protocols, and new guest-service training. August-September: New and Improved Notifications Center

Another important lesson we learned through the pandemic is that we need to communicate with our employees through multiple channels. We took this and ran with it, allowing training managers to send customized and automated notifications to employees when certain training activity occurs. Vector LMS for Casinos will automatically send in-app messages, direct emails, or both when employees are enrolled in a new course if they’ve failed a course or failed a required course lesson, and if they’ve been added, removed, or waitlisted for an in-person classroom course. All automated employee notifications are managed by training managers from an easy-to-use dashboard.

October-November: HRIS API

With what was our most complex release of the year, Vector Solutions LMS for Casinos added an API (application programming interface) to connect the Learning Management System to a customer’s existing HRIS (human resource information system: i.e. ADP, Paylocity, UKG - any of them will connect) to automate employee LMS profile updates and eliminate valuable time training managers spend updating employee profile information. 

Once successfully connected to the API, when new employee accounts are created in the customer’s HRIS system, the employee account will be automatically created in the LMS. The same goes for any employee terminations (accounts in the LMS will be disabled), name changes, and job title changes for transfers or promotions. 

Because of how employee job titles and departments are attached to employee course enrollments in the LMS, connecting to the API greatly improves the accuracy of employee-required course enrollments. Now, if an employee is transferred to a new position, the API will automatically update the employee’s LMS job title, which subsequently reconfigures the correct course assignments (without duplicates!) for their new role. This is especially important for Title 31 compliance and other HR compliance courses.
